jamuna national news: The Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said people had taken the 6-point demand placed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1966 as their charter for independence.
Speaking at a discussion at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Sheikh Hasina also said, “Bangabandhu through his hard struggle and sacrifices made the country’s people aware for achieving their independence form the Pakistani occupation forces.”
“When he (Bangabandhu) presented the 6-point in 1966 people had gladly accepted it as their charter for freedom, and within a short time they got united to relaise it,” she told the discussion recalling Father of the Nation’s role in organising Bangali nation to fight against exploitation and repression by Pakistani rulers.
Awami League arranged the discussion marking the 97th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The nation observed the day as the National Children’s Day on Friday across the country with due respect.
On this day in 1920, the architect of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born at Tungipara of Gopalganj.
