Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court pronounced the verdict on Wednesday in presence of HM Ershad and two others at a packed court room.
Earlier on April 12, the same court set the date to deliver the verdict after concluding placing argument of both prosecution and defence lawyers in the long-pending graft case.
The four charge-sheeted accused are HM Ershad, former chief of air staff Air Vice-Marshal (retd) Sultan Mahmud, former chief of air staff Momtaj Uddin Ahmed, and director of the United Traders AKM Musa.
Of them, AKM Musa remained absconding while the other accused, including Ershad, are now on bail in the case. On April 24, 2014, the court completed the recording depositions of prosecution witnesses in the case.
The court has so far recorded depositions of 12 out of 38 witnesses.
Assistant superintendent of the then Anti-Corruption Bureau Md Ali Haider filed the case with Cantonment Police Station against five accused on April 4, 1992.
Two investigation officers Manjur Ahmed and Abdus Sattar Sarker submitted the charge sheet against Ershad and three others on October 27, 1994 while the court framed charges against the accused on August 12, 1995.
As per the charges, Ershad purchased radars for Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) from the US instead of France, in collusion with the other accused, thereby causing a loss of Tk 64.04 crore to the state exchequer.
